Safety Facts

There are some facts that everyone should be aware of when thinking of traveling. These facts are not well known, but are very important to anyone traveling, especially if they are traveling cross-country or in bad weather. Here are a few facts courtesy of the American Bus Association.

  • Charter buses are America’s safest mode of commercial passenger transportation, with the lowest fatality rate per 100 million passenger miles traveled.
  • Independent studies, statistics and reviews of industry performance by the US Department of Transportation, National Safety Council, and other respected safety organizations highlight the industry’s consistent, superior performance over the past three decades.
  • Charter bus fatalities occur at one quarter the rate of the next-safest modes (planes and trains) at .01% per 100 million passenger miles traveled.
  • Charter bus businesses are safe workplaces, with the lowest fatal occupational injury rate of any intercity transportation mode.
  • Highway congestion costs US taxpayers $72 billion annually in wasted resources and lost productivity.
  • Charter and tour buses annually displace as many as 425 million cars from US roads.
  • By lightening the highway load, buses significantly contribute to highway safety. Fewer accidents and fewer delays mean savings that can be counted in human lives, and less strain on emergency and public health resources.
  • By regularly serving more than 4,000 communities, motor coaches provide travelers with an easy option to avoid more congested modes during peak travel times.
  • Charter buses deliver more than 160 passenger miles per gallon of fuel, yielding more people moving efficiently per Btu than any other mode.
  • Compared with charter and tour buses, trains consume three times more energy, cars consume four times more energy, and airplanes consume more than five times more energy per passenger mile.
  • Charter buses offer a lower impact alternative for accessing national parks and other sensitive wildlife or natural areas.
  • Charter buses also minimize the visual, noise and air pollution that might otherwise be associated with up to 57 separate vehicles.

As you can see, charter and tour buses are a wonderful method of moving people from place to place. Check with us and see how we can help you get where you’re going in comfort and safety.
